ANSWER (8.0+):
It is sometimes asserted that cross-border partnerships mostly benefit environmental conservation, whereas opponents believe that their focus is on global trade. In this essay, I will discuss both sides of the argument and the reasons why I lean toward the latter idea.
On the one hand, cooperation between nations can be greatly beneficial to the protection of the Earth for several reasons. Chief among these is the possibility of globally binding environmental commitments. An illustrative example of this is the Paris Accord, which mandates over 100 nations to not only increase investment in renewable energy but also reduce carbon dioxide emissions to bring the world temperature closer to its pre-industrial level. In addition, the international community can provide significant funding to environmental programs. These funds allow for the establishment, execution, and continuation of ambitious projects that address climate change. For instance, the World Bank allocates millions of dollars annually to initiatives that monitor climatic shifts, protect wildlife and prevent deforestation around the globe.
On the other hand, some maintain that the prime focus of cross-border collaboration is on international commerce. The foremost explanation is the facilitated flow of commodities. To illustrate, tons of high-quality durians grown in Vietnam have been exported to China since both countries agreed on cutting export tariffs and procedures. Additionally, partnerships between nations have enabled the more efficient manufacture of various products. Although a Boeing airplane is assembled in America, the vast majority of its components are imported from other nations. If the tie between the USA and these countries were suddenly interrupted, the production of Boeing’s planes, and possibly many other commodities, would be severely disrupted.
In conclusion, both perspectives have their own merits. However, I am of the opinion that trade is the main target of international collaboration, as it fosters the transactions of commodities as well as their production. Governments, therefore, should work more on eliminating trade barriers and use the increased wealth to sponsor environmental protection programs.
