Question: Directors and managers of organizations are often older people. Some people say that it is better for younger people to be leaders. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
(IELTS Academic – 18/01/2025)
ANSWER (8.0+):
It is sometimes asserted that it is more beneficial if young people assume management roles, even though most managers and directors nowadays are older individuals. I largely agree with this view, as younger leaders bring an understanding of current trends and creativity, although the experience of older leaders is invaluable.
The foremost rationale for my approval of young managers is their comprehension of ongoing trends. Growing up in the contemporary era enables them to adapt to advancements and leverage modern platforms such as TikTok and Facebook to spread ideas effectively. This ability to utilize cutting-edge tools and connect with the younger demographic is a significant advantage in today’s fast-paced world. In contrast, older leaders may struggle to keep pace with these rapid technological changes, which could limit their effectiveness in engaging with modern audiences.
Another reason for my support is the creativity and innovation younger leaders bring to the table. Younger generations tend to think outside the box and are willing to explore unconventional solutions to problems. For instance, Sam Altman, the creator of ChatGPT, demonstrated how youthful creativity can lead to groundbreaking advancements in artificial intelligence. Such traits are particularly important in leadership roles that demand adaptability, fresh ideas, and the ability to navigate uncharted territories.
However, it is important to acknowledge the value that experienced managers contribute. With years of expertise in their professional domains, senior leaders generally possess deep knowledge and honed managerial skills. For example, Ban Ki-moon, who became Secretary-General of the United Nations in his 60s, utilized his extensive experience to unite nations and address pressing global issues such as climate change and international conflict.
In conclusion, I mostly believe younger leaders are preferable as they are often more effective due to their understanding of trends and innovative mindset although the experience and wisdom of older https://www.turbolatina.com.br/ leaders are valuable,. Organizations should prioritize appointing younger leaders for key positions while ensuring that senior members provide useful guidance and insights.
