Question:  Nowadays, more people move away from their friends and families for work. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

ANSWER (8.0+):

The number of people residing away from friends and relatives to further their careers has been on the rise recently. I strongly believe the benefits of this trend including an enhanced social life and personal development outweigh the drawback of a heightened cost of living.

The foremost advantage of living away from families and friends for business purposes is the opportunity to broaden social circles. Relocating allows people to establish relationships with new neighbours or local residents who share the same hobbies with them. In addition, fewer familial responsibilities resulting from family separation generally means people can afford more time to socialise with their colleagues after work, fostering a more vibrant and diverse social life.

Another key benefit is that residing in distant places from home promotes personal growth. Individuals are often required to address challenges with limited support from their loved ones, allowing them to develop greater self-reliance to navigate through obstacles on their own. This facilitates the acquisition of skills such as decision making and problem solving, which are integral to their careers. In comparison, if people live close to their families or friends, they may overly rely on them for support, undermining their capacity for independence.

However, those living away from home might face additional financial challenges. These hurdles usually stem from an increase in monthly spending associated with accommodation and travel due to the necessity of renting a room and making trips to visit their families. By contrast, when living with relatives, not only do the aforementioned expenses diminish, people can also save money by sharing utility bills with their parents or extended family, possibly resulting in greater savings for relaxation and personal pursuits.

In conclusion, the merits of relocating away from families and friends for job opportunities carry more importance than the demerits as it enhances one’s social circle and personal growth despite possible financial concerns. That is why working people should prepare a comprehensive monetary plan before moving out to start a self-reliant life.
