Question: The plans below show the layout of a university’s sports center now, and how it will appear after redevelopment.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make
ANSWER (BAND 9):
The layouts illustrate the proposed changes to a sports centre in a university. It can be clearly seen that the centre will be dramatically enlarged with the two outdoor courts on either side of the existing building being removed to give way to new indoor facilities including a large leisure pool and sports hall. However, much in the original hall such as the reception, 25 m pool, changing room, and seating area will remain unchanged.
Turning to the West of the central building, we can see that a large leisure pool is planned, replacing the outdoor courts. Furthermore, a changing room will be built to the southwest of the pool, and a sports shop added, adjacent to the main entrance which remains unchanged.
To the East, the outdoor courts will be removed to make way for a new sports hall. While two new dance studios are proposed for the East end of the extension, the gym to the North of the pool will also be expanded eastwards. In addition, a cafe and a 3rd changing room will appear to the South of the new hall.
