📌 𝑻𝑶𝑷𝑰𝑪: Some people think that a huge amount of time and money is spent on the protection of wild animals and that this money could be better spent on the human population. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

Wildlife protection has invariably been a topic of general interest. It is argued that such considerable time and financial resources, which are now being spent on protecting wild animals, should be better allocated to solving humans’ more urgent matters. In my opinion, this school of thought is completely invalid given the paramount importance of these animals to our daily lives and people’s inadequate efforts to protect them.
There is no denying that the human race has an inextricable relationship with wildlife. If a natural species became extinct, the whole food chain would be disrupted, which is conducive to ecosystem imbalance and ultimately undesirable repercussions on humans’ lives. For example, when the frog’s population declines, some predators may lose one of their main proteins. This is also a major contributor to the increasing number of mosquitoes in the world, which can prompt the proliferation of dengue cases, and therefore, raise the death toll. This is a testament to the fact that people are wrong when downplaying the magnitude of each wild animal.
Additionally, although government coffers are spent substantially on the protection of endangered wildlife creatures, the existence of these animals is still being threatened. In fact, hundreds of dollars have been diverted to conservation projects such as giving shelters to wild animals by constructing zoological gardens and safari parks. However, this attempt seems to be woefully inadequate since there is a demise of thousands of species, with the extinction rate is on the increase. This adds credence to the testament that humans’ attempt is not enough and they should take more actions to protect the wildlife efficaciously.
In conclusion, the notion that time and money can be better allotted to other global pressing issues rather than conserving the wildlife is flawed and thus should be disapproved.
